converting ms240 from .325 to 3/8?

is it possible? what do i need?

it mentions in the stihl catalogue that the 261 can be converted to 3/8p and lists the parts required. Would the 240 be the same?

My .325 bar and chain are well worn and would like to change to 3/8. one less file to try and find in the workshop!

If you do it use 3/8 low profile - Picco in Stihl terms - that is what the MS200T uses and should work OK.

Full size 3/8 would be stupidly slow - thats if you could fit it!

But that puts him back to 2 files again !

yes it was 3/8 picco i was thinking about. Same file as 200/201 etc.

And i thought that would be quicker? am i wrong?

so what sprocket bar chain combo would i need?

Yes you can do it, but I would only try it if you are running a very short bar and cutting very small diameter material with it. The bigger the chain, the bigger the 'bite' it takes. If the chain is too long with too big a bite per tooth then it bogs down.

edit: new post has appeared indicating lo-pro. Yes, this will work nicely but it's tricky to find the right bar. Rob D knows which one it is but I don't!
