Stihl 026 vs 028 Woodboss

Never used an 026 but have got an 028 AV super that I've had since it was new in 86/87 always run on an 18" bar on .325 I reckon its pretty fast compared to my huskies and does alot more work on a tank of fuel

The husky is better! I trained on stihl, worked with stihl, then I tried a husky, now I have more huskys! There's a reason everyone is switching to all orange

The 346XP thrives on revs and hits the top very fast, the 026 will have more torque but vibrates more IMO. It just depends on what you like.

 

The 028 IMO is too old now to be a main saw or to be used for anything else than a backup or weekend saw - the 026 shares much with the 024, MS260, MS240 and as such, the spares are vey common and easy to get hold of.

 

The answer is simple - if you must have a Stihl, buy the 026/MS260 but if you fancy something a bit more racy then buy the 346XP Silverside (50cc)

It will be a personal weekend saw. I quite like the "0 Series" stihls.

 

The husqy sounds decent, but the stihls are much more available s/h on the bay.

I swapped from an 18inch on my 024 to a 15inch bar, absolute beauty, so on an 026 i shudnt think you would have any trouble joe

I have both a 028 super that I got new as a gift in 1986 and a 026. Both are great saws with the 028 probably being a slightly better made saw. That said, the 026 has more power, rpm, and is lighter and as been mentioned before, is easier to find parts for. If my 028 didnt have sentimental value I would have sold it in fabor of the 026.
