Need to put one of these on the back of the jeep.

 

Want a good quality one for obvious reasons but huge variations in price.

 

Any horror stories out there with snapped ones or any that have performed way above and beyond what could be expected. I would suspect there'll be a few on here who've given them a decent test at some time!

Sorry, just to add. I assume they're all designed with the pin far enough back to take a standard agricultural type towing eye, but the one I get will certainly have to.

When I bought my 130 it had tow ball and hitch , bent bent pretty quick ,so put Dixon bate on , no issues since fitted , and I really load my trailer up

 

HI MITCH i was told the dixon bate ones are tested to 15tons mate so with 3.5tons there ok thanks jon :thumbup:

there is one, or there used to be a type (Dixon Bates?)

That had the pin co-axial with the 50mm ball.

Very tidy arrangment.

 

I have just bought one so it’s still available. Rated to 5T. OK with standard towing eye, assuming a Ifor plant trailer has a standard towing eye!

I witnessed a rear cross member ripped off of a 110 once. That was with a big strap pinned onto a Dixon Bate hitch. I'll never use anything else now.

 

The only down side to them is that they stick out further than most. Not a great way to be on a pickup that has the tailgate lowered a lot.

I went for a bradley auto jaw on the new pick up, sick of wrestling with tight pins when dropping of at the end of the day, usually in the dark / wet. I also hitch up mainly on my own in a less then flat yard and once my reversing was up to snuff, I've found it really good.

Only downside is that the rocker needs a little grease every 6 months or so to keep it slick, depends how much time you spend with the hitch covered in muck.
