throw lines

im looking for a new throw line and was woundering what lines people are using and size i was using liros but it snaped

Liros dyneema, with the harrison rocket throwbags, no probs here. Excellent for hangers and line placement. Give it loads of abuse, and havent snapped it yet.

The tangling is probably more because of how you're storing it, than what kind of line you're using.

The secret to avoiding tangles is to flake it into a tub, bucket, faltheimer cube. Every now and again throw it over a branch and let the line hang. As with all ropes, lines develope a memory, and will try to go back to how they were on the reel, so hanging it out will help resolve this. I see several people put the line around stick, all this does is put more twists back into the line.

I've found the best throwline for not tangling

to be 150ft Weaver 2mm used with 16oz throwbags stored in one of Sherrils cubes.

I store my line in a folding netting laundry bag, one pound and thirty pence.

 

I don't really use throw lines much though.
