Windblown trees

Everyone gets caught out from time to time. It's no good kicking yourself. Definitely don't dwell on the clients behaviour. They have their own internal reasons for acting in the way they do. Having a tree fail and the unforeseen costs is stressful enough. You don't know if a relation had just died or his wife was having an affair. It may sound absurd but sometimes quite small things can tip someone over the edge.

Back to topic. I priced to get rid of a root ball a few years back. I thought a chap I know could lift it over the hedge and get rid of it. Turned out it weighed about 15 tonnes so the £300 I had on it didn't go very far. That, coupled with the 5tonnes of topsoil required to level the site. Hey-ho.

Cheers Paul

in a similar situation myself i removed a tree from house this week quote says " to remove tree from house". Now neighbour who owns tree is not happy and started getting angry as i have left stump 4ft high and root plate not level ( this cut back to his garden).

That's interesting, I was lucky I could pull the root plate out with the winch on the land rover and then lifted out with a tractor. But if you are in a confined area that would make it a lot harder I guess.

Here was the one i fecked up on, had agreed to take to stump level and "try to right" the stump. Client thought he would "help" by back filling the hole while we were not there so we ended up having the remove the whole thing after he refused to pay.

No access for any plant etc.

BIG lesson learnt, now have the AA t&c's on the back of my quotes and i get the client to sign it before we start.
