Just my way of saying I'm putting out the begging bowls. :001_smile: Along with some other members of Arbtalk, I do volunteer work for Stow Maries RFC aerodrome near where I live in Essex. The aerodrome is the only complete one of its kind in Europe. They have a fantastic group of volunteers there who maintain the site for wildlife(the BBC filmed there last year for a major series) as well as restoring the airfield to its WW1 condition. I have managed to provide them with an old Husqvarna 41 saw to make some tasks easier and I have also given them a much-patched pair of my old Hiflex. What I haven't managed to provide are any boots(as the twin brothers who will be using the saw have smaller feet than my size 12s) or a lid. I'm hoping somebody who is replacing/upgrading kit will have some used size 10 boots or a groundie's lid with a bit of life left in them that they would be kind enough to donate to a very good cause. :001_smile:

I'm on it Andy.

We help maintain a strip of land near our village called 'Johnsons corner'.

An American Flying Fortress crashed there in WWII.

The pilot, Captain Johnson, badly wounded, held the shot up plane steady so his crew could bale out on this side of the Channel.

They all survived, but he went down with the plane.

Makes you feel humble to hear what these brave lads went through for us.
