That wont ever really attain the same scale in the landscape though.

 

If you want a better yet similar tree - Gleditsia triacanthos 'Sunburst'. One of my faves!

 

Honey Locust is a most excellent call Tony.

 

Also, a specimen not entirely suited to this situation as it's smaller in scale, but nonetheless, still worthy of mention even with it being a few extra sheckles, Is the less anaemic, racier & prettier Sister :001_wub:

cheers for all the advise guys, ill go speak to them today.recon taking them out and replating is best idea. is a shame tho, really healthy looking tree. many a coldbeer and bbq underneath it in summers past! gonna be a big change in their garden tho, two gum trees at the end taller than the robinia need taking down too. skinny things tho, not quite sure how to get up to the needed rig point, about 20 ft of smooth stem, 4" thick, and moves like crazy in the wind
