best way to wash n dry boots

with all this rain I'm working ankle deep in clarts, really getting on my (.)(.)

 

how dose everyone wash and dry your boots?

 

I know leather can crack, so got to be careful in how you dry them out.

Wash with damp cloth then dubbed then beside the fire rdy for the morning.

1.Wash them off with wet cloth.

2.Fill them with newspaper scrunched into tight balls.

3.Rub Nikwax liquid dubbing into them (can be rubbed in even when leather is wet).

4.leave overnight away from direct source of heat.

5.Remove paper in the morning, hey presto dry waterproof boots.

 

Or, ignore the above and have 2 pairs.

I knew a couple of boys that swore by their electric boot dryers, stick them in the boots for a couple of hours and there dry. Cant say Iv tried them myself but might be worth a go if your getting minging everyday.

Rinse mine off on a Friday with hose. Take out laces and tie then like a belt to chainsaw trousers in washer. Then scrub boots with nail brush with whatever dregs of shower gel I have left leave to dry and polish on Sunday.

And don't tell the missus I told you.

Stick them under the hose and brush off the crud. Then as Firestorm said. Stick newspaper inside and I usually leave mine at the bottom of an airing cupboard but not by the fire. The direct heat from the fire can harden the leather making it crack.
