I cant see why we dont have these over here.

they look like they tick so many boxes so to soeak and obviously they work in the tree game.

Why cant they be shipped over here:?

You can import, subject to various rules on conformity. lights/weights/rear axle overhang etc.

Then as per usual, licencing for driver, 'O' for truck.

Reid and Co had one, brought over by Asplundh when Asplundh bought Reid's out. It was known as the white elephant because it was huge (compared to the other tree trucks) and white. It was also way too big to use as it was brought over mainly for the MANWEB contract in North Wales but they couldn't get it down half the country lanes there. It was still sat in the yard when I worked there.

They are a bit numb for UK roads, the obvious solution is to build one on a UK chassis.

Crew cab??

My brother drives an Iveco similar set up to that but smaller. The lift is located in the same place but folds up side ways if you know what I mean. I think it reaches approx. 45'. Then there is a chip box on the back, a very nice bit of kit. His boss has three of them used for line clearance.

One of these ?

That looks like a nice combo but guess its only good for road use really, or where you can get the mewp to the tree, no good for us as most of our work is back gardens.

The Yankee truck looks a beast but again no good around kent - it wouldnt fit in most peoples drives! :laugh1:

The big give away is the name of the company that owns most of these combo units. Asplundh are Huuuuge in the line clearance market and in the US where Asplundh started is Huuuuge by comparison with the UK.

Its a fairly specialised unit, a bit of a one trick pony but it does that trick well.
