Killing off a stump?

Please help...

I have a mate who recently had a "tree" (no further information available)cut down and wants to kill off the stump and roots so it doesn't start sprouting again. He doesn't want the stump removed as he has started using it as a feature in the garden (bird table) and likes to have the birds visiting.

What are the methods nowadays for this?

Thanks in advance.

i take it the stump is 3-4 ft high try removing the bark all over it saves from using nasty poisons

I suggested this in another thread and got positively ignored or poo pooed, Where were you when I needed you ?:001_smile:

People are far too keen on poison, I've killed many a stump chipping off the bark with a sharp spade.

i probably never seen the thread but i would try to always avoid poison as it kills too much other stuff
