Took me a full month to recover from the op and a further 2months from the whole thing. I would seriously take the time to rest. Once i got home from hospital i started to work a bit and that did not go to well and almost passed out several times :/.

Take time to rest i know its hard but its worth it ;)

Mine fully blew in 2003, leading to a bladder infection which kept me in hospital with tubes where men shouldn't have tubes, for 2 weeks. I was signed off for 2 weeks after leaving hospital and it took probably 3 months until I was fit again (although wasn't climbing). I guess it's finding the balance between taking it easy and doing something strenuous, so that you heal well.

really? iv been signed off for 2 weeks and was hoping id be back befor then? im still bed bound struggling to go as far as the toilet but thought this would be sorted by mid week. any of you remember having bad shoulder pain? if so did u find a way to eas it?

Cant recall shoulder pain :/ i was bed bound for 1 week. They operated it out just as it was about to burst so was very lucky. It was very hard to get out of the bed to go toilet :) . Trust me you do not want to be doing tree work straight after the op. Rest and recover so the scares and wounds can heal properly. It will take 2-3 maybe 4 months for all the drugs and antibiotics to loose there effect. As in you will be easily tired and not feel up for much. Please do take it easy. Ask your doctor or surgeon and they will be able to advise you better :) hope you get better soon ;)

You may have been signed off for only 2 weeks but do they know what you do for a living?

You can only go with how you feel, it depends on how much muscle (and other things) they had to cut to do the op. remember there will be untold bruising in there too.

When you think about how you use your midriff area when you climb I'd say you need to take it easy- no point in breaking any of the repair work theyve done inside you, apart from haemmoraging (may be spelt wrong) you don't want to go back to square one.

Listen to what your body is telling you, and heres to a speedy and full recovery.

Once you have had your appendix out I'm afraid it will never recover . You will have to live without it ....

What he said. I had mine out years ago. And the scar was huge, but I guess it's smaller now. Go with how you feel and at first DO NOT WORK ALONE, ensure someone is with you and you tell them how your doing.

Shoulder pain might be from inactivity or even wind! It'll probably go once you start moving around a bit.
