Hi Spud,

I have recently bought an ms201t cm, was wondering what you might be able to do with it/ how much gain would i get?

Probably a muffler mod only would be the best bet as the ignition mod used on earlier models would possibly mess up the auto tune. I can't say what the gains would be but think they would be worthwhile. Best let the warranty run out before modding it though.

Been porting again, this was a real pleasure as the saws were in stonking condition. A near new MS200 with very little use (2010) and a very nice 395XP which sounded rather good once done. Compression on the MS200 was circa 180 before my adjustments so that should go well and the 395 turned out nice.

Any more photos of the muffler mods on the 200?

Im clueless when it comes to modding stuff and don't want to (or afford to) make a balls of the saw. Is it just a bigger hole in the muffler? is there much to be gained from porting a 200?

Well I have done more than I can care to remember. The compression goes up to circa 200psi, they rev that bit harder, have more torque and go in the cut. I would guess the best people to ask are the people on this forum that I have done them for.

Most find that my service and porting on an MS200 makes for a solid reliable machine and they get good value.

The 200 is one of those machines that you do a lot of small bits that ends up to a good end result!

I didn't mean that you would make a balls of it, I meant of I went at it myself I'd make a bad job of it. In all the reading I've done on this I've yet to hear a bad review of your work. I'm after buying a second-hand 200 and it won't be used for any climbing work really, just the odd bit of pruning, mostly Apple trees. What kind of a price would you be talking to port it or is that like asking how much is a piece of string?

Sorry, never took it that you meant I would make a balls up of it. Will PM you the costs.
