Based on what I've read on Landy forums, the newer, post 300tdi engines (though I've never owned one) are more powerful but the supporting electronics are complex and therefore V expensive to put right if they go wrong.

With modern emissions regs that seems the way newer vehicles are having to go.

Good luck

wasnt to keen on the stock td5.

the newer puma seems to have plenty of go and the traction control system is amazing.

As said before, more electronics to go wrong and expensive to fix. there has been quite a few that are plagued with problems. a friend had one at work (brand new) that didnt move for three months because of some immobiliser problem that had the main dealer stumped.

western power had a couple that would chew a clutch up every 1500 miles- spent more time in the garage than on the road.

but i have heard more good than bad about the new defenders.

still uncomfortable thou

Unfortunately you can't get ABS or traction control on a new 130. I'm in the process of having one built and that was two things not available.

However on my 11 plate 90xs the traction control is awesome so I agree with you there.

Is it the same as the one used on the Evoque ? Someone I know has had problems with one from the outset, if it's parked for the day it refuses to start till the dealer resets something with a computer. It really pees him off.

If you want economy then don't buy a landy, however if you want a vehicle that will do loads, carry loads and go most places then they are great, they don't come near a mog or tractor off road in muddy situations but as long as you remember that then they are spot on.ImageUploadedByArbtalk1389598332.027821.jpg.71a3b869c3a6c3a99015e27684d473ff.jpg
