Blocking, chunking, undermining the COG

COB = centre of balance in this instance.

 

I have seen so many guys making a meal out of chunking down over the years.

 

Heres some video and pointers which might help, I hope.

Good job Reg, It's a great tool to have in the box indeed.

I try & place the back-cut level with the front cut - less vertical wood to split in the hinge (you can retain a bigger hinge ), less chance of over cutting & having your saw taken with the piece & easier to see & judge such a fine hinge - hope that all makes sense
