I was talking to someone i work for about this problem last night, and he said that at the APF just been he mentioned it to one of the stihl blokes there and the responce he got was "bluddy hell i didnt know they did that!"

I can't believe this thread has made 3 pages, jeez!

Personally i never fill my oil to the brim, if i get close i burp it then put the cap, i hate groundies that overfill the oil on my saw and turn it into an oily mess!

If i ran my own buisness it would be part of the days trail, if you brimed it you would not be asked back, you got to leave at least an inch below the top to pass!

If this thread reaches 4 pages....... Your all as sad as me!

It took me a while to figure the 'burp' out. I thought that when I filled up the saws, the saws were using different amounts of oil between fills. Mind you when I showed my climber of 13yrs, he didn't know about it.

I was told about it on one of my first days. Also I noticed sometimes you can't tip it without oil coming out so I just poke it with something to release the surface tension and let the air out, and this is where I stop talking because it's officially got too scientific and sad. :bored:

I don't like them being overfilled either, always leave a little gap, no fun using a saw with oil all over the handle! :001_smile:

Is it really a problem ? if you do brim it you can burp it and the oil trap is a blessing ! cant quite believe that this has made three pages either!

I really couldnt care less about burping but i do hate them oil caps with a passion the screw down one are loads better.
