I would agree that the Ariens transmission is a potential weakness with the rubber tyre running on metal platter variable speed feature. Both of mine however did thousands of acres of rough slopes with the only requirement being to keep the speed adjuster mechanism torqued up so as to avoid the thing gradually speeding up while mowing. If you are a machine abuser, perhaps it won't suit you but if you like to use and maintain, then maintenance on an ariens is a piece of cake.

I have one arien mower that i use at the moment but i'm not sure if it would cope with long grass, especially if the conditions were wet as well. What model of ariens do you use?

I have an old 550 pro mulch mower and its getting on a bit now and don't want it to fail on me. So i'm looking to replace it with a similar mower, but i can't seem to find anyone who sells victa mowers in the uk?

So does anyone know of where i can buy them from or a similar sort of mower capable of cutting long, thick grass and spreading it well?

Many thanks, James.

I would ask for a demo of these [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKwOZP9ETRU]PSD Groundscare AS Motor AS 65 Allmäher HD - YouTube[/ame]

They have a large range range of machines for all applications
