Cheers, for that. Buyers preference is 9-10' lengths. Range of sizes up to about 25-28" dia. mid log. If it makes a difference is cumbrian oak from the the heart of the Lake District. Puts £40K on house prices, wonder what it does to timber values 😜

What size are the smaller ones, and what proportion of small to large? That will determine how much to come down from £6.

Wow I am shocked at how little value Oak has placed on it ? Not much different than firewood ? Unless I,m missing something . We don't sell much except from the occasional decent stick .

£6 per hoppus foot is £162 a tonne. That is 3 times what you would get for the best quality processor sized oak. I think you might be missing something

Theres always talk of that kind of money, but when the time comes no one wants the write the cheque

I usually pay £4-5, so between £100 and £130 a tonne. If you spoke to AJ Scotts in Northumberland, they want £15/hf for their best quality butts.

No. Most I've bought is 50 tonnes and I sold 25 tonnes straight off. I only use about 50 tonnes of oak a year in total.

I have paid between £2 and £5/hp for Cumbrian oak, and it was done per stick, so you could take an average to save the hassle, depends how many sticks !
