I like the flexibility of being able to train whenever I want at home.

 

Do the heavy stuff in my mate's garage gym a couple of times a week, but it's a pain if I miss it 'cos I'm working late or out pricing

 

A contradiction in terms, me thinks.............Most gyms are open til nine p.m

Maybe you're right Mick.

 

They might have improved since the late eighties when I last went!

 

Might give it a go, but I still want to be able to do my dips at home!

Gyms are for harry Hoofters!

 

Buy portable gymnastic rings from ringtraining.com.

 

You can hang them from chinup bars. trees whatever you can sling them over.

 

exercises - chins, dips, pushups, ab exercises. and lots more.

 

Warning: side affects may be turning into a beast, body will feal light, and you climbing in tree work wll improve ten fold.

 

I have trained for years in stength and fitness...and i know guys that can do 50 dips/ that can't knock of 2 dips on the rings.

I don't work out full stop, however I tried a few dips the other day, I was surprised how few I could do, barely 10. I haven't noticed any lack of strength whilst climbing though and so I wonder; as you get more experienced, and therefore more efficient, as a climber do you need less strength?

 

JJG reckoned that the optimum weight for a climber was 12 stone, but what if as you get more and more efficient and need less strength and burn less calories you get fatter and fatter. By this theory the best climbers would be the fattest.:laugh1:

 

There's a few old timers bound to agree with this!
