Not good then mate.

Presume your taking it to a garage for those prices? I think you need to be able to do repairs yourself if running older vehicles it's not so much the parts but the labour charge at a garage is the killer.

Not being funny, but I wouldn't even consider a vehicle at that price £2200, all you'll end up with is a pile of rubbish/problems. What I'd do is save up a few more grand and buy something hopefully more reliable, I'd then look for a cabstar because I've had them and they're good and reliable

You still run into trouble when you spend a bit more! I bought an 08 transit dropside for £7.5k + vat and ended up doing a gearbox £1.5k + vat. Supposedly they go all the time!

Bought pretty much the same as you about a year n a half ago with an eighteen month warranty. One new starter motor so far so I'm extending the warranty.

My only gripe with the warranty people is that they told my mechanic how long they thought it should take and I had to foot twenty five quid of the bill, other than It's worth every penny imo.

It can be a lot of pot luck with anything secondhand. We've bought old and spent nothing on repairs, or it can go the other way. Garages can be really expensive even for basic stuff. Try to carry out repairs yourself as others have said or look for a good mechanic who can help you out when you are stuck... Vehicles are for the most part just spanners and a bit of common sense....
