Evening all, bought a cundey peeler and a McConnell sawbench not so long back just for fun ( I like rusty things :001_smile:)..gave them abit of tlc and was considering selling them to get something else..

recentley a few people have told me there having issues getting quality posts for stock fencing, tanalised posts rotting and snapping around ground level within 3-5 years seems common..the chap who used my machines when they belonged to the local estate recons he knows of loads about that must be 30+ years old and still good (pickled larch)..

im tempted to have a go but didn't want to find I couldn't shift them, anyone doing similar?

depends what you need to sell them for. if you want to get a market for them take say 50 to a local farm sale see how they sale. bound to go but at the price you want or take some round local estates show them may get some orders for them its getting a name for qality once you have it it soon gets around and they will be knocking at your door other places fencing firms if your price is keen and again quality its a foot in door

no market as yet, I was just thinking of giving it a shot.. I would sell direct, do some networking and make a small website maybe just generally make myself able to find.. I called a local supplier today and was quoted £4.35 + vat for a 115mm 6ft tanalised stake.. seemed enough to me but its been awhile sine I bought any

i was talking with the old boy today and he said best method is to boil the bottom 3ft in creosote.. assuming this practice still allowed??

I'm sure thats out these days:001_rolleyes: but your larch post should out last most treated pine ones as standard anyway :thumbup1:
