A local snap on truck was very safe so the put chains on the back doors and ripped them off. Don't leave gear in your van.

Just put a sign on the back door saying "No tools left in this van overnight"

hooking the van up to a mains electric fencer go's a little way to deterring them. (not entirely sure it would work with the vehicle electrics)( in principle being sat on the tyres it should work- i'll hook it up on my car and you can test it )

it looks safe enough but i would not like the repair bill from them trying to get in

 

also there are much bigger versions of simillar locks like this...they are even harder to break, you see them on the back of some delivery vans... its like a huge metal plate that surrounds a big round padlock, they are also very secure and can be fitted to sliding doors too i just cant seem to find them right now but will keep eyes open..
