Arb Dog needs new home

We have two dogs (bitches) and one has to go, they have fallen out big time and the brown one, Roma, needs a new home, she is around 1 year old prezer canair/staff cross, she does not get on with other dogs (bitches) but is affectionate with people, once you create a bond with her she is totally loyal and would protect you with her last breath, her name is Roma. She will sit and high five but do not expect more than that, most certainly not to be with other bitches. She has grown up with my grandkids and is used to kids, I have no problems with her being with the kids, her issue is purely and simply a dog thing. However, she is a dog and kids safety cannot be guaranteed. She is a perfect yard dog, she will bark at strangers but when you tell her thats enough she shuts up. The other dog in the pic's is a two year old Alsation and Roma is stronger than her, she has amazing strength for her size.

That is tough, we, with an mix of rescue dogs have had the same issue(s).

Anything with Staffie or Mastiff blood in, would rather die than submit (in our experience)

A lady friend has a similar dog that she and her partner obtained from the local 'rescue' establishment. Living in a field in a very comfortable mobile home, the animal has found doggie heaven!

Here's hoping you find similar.

We have been out today with Roma and the grandkids and they all get along fine, she has been bought up with the kids, its just other dogs she doesn'tlike.

Any chance you could reconsider rehoming. She looks like she has a good life with you. So many dogs need good loving homes at moment & gets worse year on year. Both of your dogs are still pups so there will be tension from time to time until they sort out their places in the pack. I have extensive experience of dogs that do not get along, I live with three large snow dogs, two could not be within ten feet of each other without wanting to rip each other to pieces, & our breed will fight until one is either dead or immobilised. But with treat based reward training & agility & cani cross & pulling we taught them that if they work together life can be good. They now have a mutual respect for each other & know when space is needed, they even sometimes play together. If you put the work in the rewards for your dogs & yourself are incredible. I'm not a dog trainer or behaviourist but have had around eight years experience with mine, if you would like any advice, pm me.

thanks for your feed back and I would not dissagree, I am sure with time and commitment it would be achievable but at the present moment I have neither due to other stuff going on, its such a busy old life. I am trying to rehome her but if I can't then eventually it will be a one way trip. I don't want to do that but we simply cannot keep the two together again and I have no where else to put her. I am sure some one will want her, its just finding that some one.

its a shame you're not more local, i have a friend who is a renowned behaviorist & trainer she even keeps & trains dogs especially to work with dogs like yours, and allot lot worse for that matter. She almost literally works miracles!

 

she is a very clever very special woman but she is super frank & matter of fact with people & sometimes it rubs people up the wrong way but the proof is in the pudding! ill always remember a dog she worked with, horrific start in life & wouldn't just scrap with other dogs it would kill them! very very rare for a dog to do that you wouldn't believe me if i told you what it was like 12 or even 4 months later. You listen to her, you do as she says, it works, different dogs need very different methods but she reads them, she can tell what their underlying motivations are.

 

It does take some time & some money though, she dictates how regular you should have a session & whether or not it should be 1to1, a group session or one with one of her k9 aids. consider it if you can im sure their are people that do similar work up your way.
