Advice on a Tw150

I have been looking into getting my 1st chipper and looking for a little advice. I have been offered a 2006 TW150 with 1300hours on it, works well and seams to be mechanically sound though is a little tatty looking in places. It's had new flywheel bearing and blades and a service. What should I be looking out for? Should I be concerned with the hours and what would you expect to pay for it ?

As little as possible!

1300 isn't mega hours- have you seen any service history?

flywheel bearings are popular for issues but if they have recently been changed.

you need to have someone who knows what they are looking at- chippers can have allsorts of issues, wiring, stress control, stress fractures in metal, bearings, hydraulics- don't jump into anything without proper inspection would be my advice.

It's an ex hire machine from a company I deal with fairly regularly. It has quite a comprehensive maintenance record. They are after 4800+vat.

Thanks for all the advice, I'm going to try and get someone to check it out as I don't know enough to make an informed decision.

 Good choice - price doesn't seem far out- any warranty?- personally I would steer clear of hire machines, they aren't loved enough.

I love my tools

Looks for the strongly disagree button :001_smile:

Depends where it comes from and the level of service inbetween hires IMHO
