scrub clearing

Recommended Posts

been and had a look at a job which has loads of saplings and budlia out of control plus normal trees the owner wants it cleared. now the good bit the only acsess is a small track from the woods into the pit. yes its a old chalk pit with sides 50ft tall all around apart from this litle track which is steep going down. will take aages with clearing saw also can not burn brash as under aproach path to airport so burning it is out.

also there is standing wood which is ok for firewood but once again getting it out have a large oak at top of pit and there is some trees any idears how to get the timber out and money is tigth so can not spend loads on special kit. i wonder if the job is worth doing and forget it. any advice apreciated

Tracked chipper for the smaller stuff, quad with a logging arch for the bigger bits?

How big is the access track, is there big time constraints on the job, if not wait till summer so you can get around the site easier without making a mess.

i said i can not do it before next april at the earliest. alpine sounds interesting i could come in from main wood just take fence down hope it will go down slope ok as main railway line is a stones throw away.

will look into alpine route does anyone hire them. i see scrub clearance around with a big flail on front. may have a job geetting something like that in. and dragging timber out once again take it up to main wood then cut it up.thanks for advice. i bet once he sees price for job it will go nowhere.

like to have a go as different to normal job.

Any pictures of site ?. There's all ways a way to get a tractor in some were as long as you have got the balls to drive it, use to clear the side of a hill plantation I had to wedge my feet against gear box to just stay in the seat. Lower in with winch may be one way.

have you considered a brush cutting deck for a skid steer (do they do them for mini skids as well?) CAT claim their 66 inch will get through 5 inch stuff regularly and up to 8 inch occasionally. Or so some forum I read a while ago said. As they're not open deck the debris won't go flying as far as with a mulcher. It's essentially just a much larger Field and Brush mower.

Sounds like a job for a good old fashioned clearing saw, mulcher blade, pitch fork and one of those bonfire thingys,!:001_tt2:

can not have bonfires as under aproach to airport, have to fill out forms in triplicate on why i wish to have a fire. how big dimensions acros fire what wood burning how high will smoke go:confused1::001_rolleyes: well i bet that be the qestions asked. can not be asked to go throught all the hoops for a small fire so going in with a flail is the better option. clearing saws be there ages with one. need something i can just drive into and knock it down. so flail on a alpine looks the job just need to find a local firm to hire one
