How much would it cost to build a new ms200t from parts?

Just a thought, If you started from scratch, how much would all the genuine parts cost to build a new saw.

Or you could start with an old saw, replace:

Crank

Cylinder and piston

Bearing and seals

Oil pump

Carb.

So you have an as new refurbished saw.

There could be a market for re-manufacturing 200ts, replace enough of the important components, and you will have a saw that is as good as new.

Scrap dealers are not poor coz it pays . I worked out how much it would cost to build a year 2000 Honda Fire Blade from parts bought over the counter and it was bonkers money ! something like 30 times the amount to buy one strait out of the show room all put together ...... Hope this helps ...

People buy new saws and part them out, especially in the states. The sum of the parts is worth more that the whole. Ive parted out a few brand new MS440 in the past, dosnt really pay nowadays as there are so many chinese parts around and people can get hold of them easy.

MS200 genuine brand new parts, all plus vat

Crank £126.21

Piston and cylinder £129.88

Carb £78.32

Just them 3 parts is over £400 with the vat.

Crank the shaft price or the casing price?

When pricing these things up, people overlook the silly things, such as the starter, clutch cover, dogs, even the brake assembly, when you consider the screws are about £1 each, that's about £20 more!

£126.21 is just the price of the crankshaft, last time i looked the cases were around £180 plus vat for the pair.

So that's £520+ for just the main parts, there's still seals, ignition, starter, fuel tank, oil pump, clutch, handles, brake, muffler, connections, nuts and bolts, air filter, bearings...

I reckon over £1000+ vat just for the saw to be completed, not including cutting equipment. You'd probably save a few hundred if you used pattern parts though

If you really wanted to, strip an old saw clean it up, measure high wear parts to see if they are still in tollerance, replace those parts that arent. It will be as good as it gets for a lot less than building a saw out of new bits. Its called reconditioning, and theres a lot of firms doing it with motors, engines, alternators, start motors, etc.
