My latest work, carved in Macrocarpa

 

tools used:

Dolmar 115

Stihl 114 electric with carving bar

Dremel assorted saburr tips

Sealey power file

Drum Sanders

And hand sanding

 

Finish is acrylic washes to give the greens and burning. Danish oil and top coated with 5 bars of bees wax.

Eyes are Glass taxidermy grade

Lovely piece of work.. did you have to wait for the wood to be dry or will the oil stop it from cracking?

 

The wood had been cut quite a long time, so that and the oil fingers crossed. I did have it sitting in my boiler house too.
