Hi all

 

Whats the max bar you all run on a 346xp. normally run 15inch and she runs like a good-un.

 

But todays wind has brought down a 150yr old horse chestnut and a bigger bar would help out slot since the trunk is huge!

18" tops, but won't pull anywhere as good as a 15"

As said you can get away with an 18" for a quick fix but wont perform quite as well ...

Yea it may even drive a 20" to some effect but the balance would be pants ...

Used ours with 20" to deal with a large oak when it was my only saw. It got the job done just not very fast. While doing it probably best to leave depth stops high to avoid it biting off more than it can chew.

I was unsure to get a 18 or 20".

 

I know it will be slow going but it is my only saw. It suits most of my work thinning in a 20yr old woodland

Make friends with some one with a 660 or 395. It'll make your life a lot easier.

How big is the tree? You said its 150YO, but I've seen trees vary greatly in diameter but only a few years apart

between 4&5 foot diameter at base. it has had bleeding canker for a few years and the wind snapped the trunk near the base today.
