Would like to hear both sides of the story, maybe it's because I was a fisherman for almost 20yrs, it would be too easy to sign it and forget about job losses at sea and ashore.

Sorry!

Although I can see the good intent.

How did your boats fish? I don't really have any sympathy for people loosing there jobs if these methods are used ... Sorry !

Demersal longlining, gill netting, fish trapping, potting are methods I can accept, I've got no gripe with the majority of the inshore fleet. But dragging 5 ton of iron over a seabed trawling or catching 500 ton of mackerel in one hit I can't accept as a sustainable industry. Don't get me started on trawler bycatch!

I don't blame low fish stocks competely on commercial fishing, I also blame bad government/EU fisheries managment

I'm guessing beam trawling, highly detrimental to the seabed and catches huge amounts of juvenile fish, one fishing method that definitely needs banning

I'm guessing you're right mate.

To sign a petition on the info given in the link, I think would be guessing also. No doubt many fishing methods do damage as do many other occupations, we need a lot of information before we ban them is all I meant.
