tracked post knockers vs tractor.

This is what we came up for on Neil's Tracked dumper.

Basically a forklift mast converted and all the hydraulics sorted to run his big Bryce knocker setup.

Basically it remains a Dumper but can lift and carry all sorts of thinks on the front linkage without sticking out too far or impeding any normal dumper use.

Neil usually runs the Bryce on a Valtra, but this setup keeps him going when others have to give up and has won him plenty of projects.

It's got bags of power and will lift the front of the dumper in the air when pushing down no problem.

We wanted it to take an angle blade for backfilling drainage trenches too.

It comes up a lot higher than the position in the picture.

That's a neat idea Eddie, seems a shame to waste a dumper entirely on post knocker duties so you've got the best of both worlds there.

Spikeymikey- if got the Basic XL model, its all hydraulic and has a telescopic boom giving 40cm side shift or can swing round out the back and extend 40cm too. Also got the rock spike which I wouldn't be without now! I'm sure Tim will sort you out, he went to a lot of effort to get my machine to run off my old zetor which didn't have good enough hydraulics so involved having a pump on the post knocker itself. I will keep the PTO pump even on the newer tractor to save wear and hear on the tractors hydraulic system.

I'm surprised more dumper conversions don't have the swing round system instead of just side shift. If I was purchasing a dedicated fencing machine like that I'd find it a bit dissapointing if I couldn't get into tight corners still.

Nice set up. close coupled as well. Our bryce wouldn't fit though due to the back shift sections, they nearly touch the downlinks on our arms. Ours is a Profi supreme version. I assume Neil has a lighter version?:001_smile:

It just goes to show that you can get a better machine if you cobble it together yourself. These adapted tracked machines are the nuts, there was one on ebay recently with a small timber crane on it and bolsters, again thats a handy bit of home grown kit. ( men in sheds :) )

we have a mate with a converted tracked post knocker, brill piece of kit. Has a protech contractor mini knocker on it and goes a lot more places than a tractor mounted one. We had him on a wetland restoration job skidding timber with it back in Sep extremely LGP, you could track that across where you couldn't walk for sinking!
