Before I break the third oil seal !, I thought I might ask anyone who has a good technique in doing this. At present, I have the bearings installed. The seals seem to split when I try and set them back in. any help would be great !

I use a long reach socket that is slightly smaller than the seal diameter to push the deal in to place. A tap with a mallet helps if tight!

I have been there done that, I have replaced successfully with the crankcase separated, but failed on my first try with the crank in place.

I think getting the bearing started is the critical part.

It is probably easy for the guys who do it all the time, but the seals are very brittle, and the price of a pint every time you break one.

I have another 200t in bits waiting for seals, This time I will make a special tool to start the bearings off.

I will post a picture when I have made it.

I meant getting the seal started in the recess :blushing:

Can I not edit posts, for spelling mistakes or typos?

Yes but you have to be quick, you have about ten minutes.

Are chainsaw bearings specials or can you find the size and buy them from bearingboys ? You can buy them with seals already fitted to one side if you could find the size you need.

Not on a saw. The seal is a different size from the bearing. Well on a 200t anyway. The bearing is bigger and the seal is smaller and sits on the outside of the casing.

Try simplybearings
