bowl turning thread

I look forward to seeing the finished results of that catalpa, as ive got 50 or so bowl blanks cut from an indian bean tree that blew over at the local country park. The warden there gave me the nod which was good of him!

 

me too it'g gorgeous looking stuff and it seems to dry very happily too but i will leave that bit one for a few months before i finish it.

 

 

would love to see some of yours when they're done.

just got a few different woods that i've not turned from wet before and i wish they would stay the colour they are when wet once they've dried out.

 

london plane is such a nice pink with colourful streaks but goes quit pale.

 

robinia is getting lighter by the hour.

 

chestnut is doing the same and considering it's very brown when wet it's like pale straw now.

 

the liquidambar is quite dark when wet but pales to a pink colour.

 

at least the douglas fir stays either orange or pink.
