would cedar not be more cosistant alec?

 

Yes, cedar would be much easier but I fancy trying it in euc. It's for my own stuff so I can afford to play around with it and see if I can get it to work. It should be pretty stable once dry, it's just the drying itself that's tricky.

good luck with it then mate, once dry it isnt that stable hence why it shifts twists and moves with the slightest deference in moisture content. you can plane it square once and some pieces will never be square again.

 

putting on my joiners hat cedar isnt the most ideal wood to make the carcasing out of either but it's better than euc.

Here's the latest from me, not all turned this weekend a couple have been waiting to be finished.

 

This one is an off cut from last weeks natural edged elm burr, tiny only 2 inch tall

Finally a spalted beech goblet with a wavey rim, did this to see if it would work. Not sure it does.
