clive's right, cedar is much more pleasant to work with both because it is a greater repellent of the moths and it's workability as a wood is great...

 

very stable too, euc moves quite a bit so not recommended for carcasing really.

Yes, cedar would be much easier but I fancy trying it in euc. It's for my own stuff so I can afford to play around with it and see if I can get it to work. It should be pretty stable once dry, it's just the drying itself that's tricky.

fair enough alec,its used quite a lot in northern spain for all sorts, so be interesting to try it out.

good luck with it then mate, once dry it isnt that stable hence why it shifts twists and moves with the slightest deference in moisture content. you can plane it square once and some pieces will never be square again.

 

putting on my joiners hat cedar isnt the most ideal wood to make the carcasing out of either but it's better than euc.

Finally a spalted beech goblet with a wavey rim, did this to see if it would work. Not sure it does.

in those pics it looks like a bit of sycamore or lime but doubt it.
