Caught a glimpse of something about saving Londons oldest tree.

Will be on in the next 15 minutes sometime.

 

BBC News - Attempts to save old giant oak tree in Southgate

 

Tree surgeons are working to save one of London's oldest trees from dying.

 

The giant oak in Southgate was already 300 years old when when Henry VIII was King of England but now the tree has begun to subside and decay internally.

if i was a tree i would rather die looking like i do than have half my limbs cut off...

 

800 years really aint bad, i say let it be...

 

I agree, not that I could put up any scientific argument for leaving things be, it just doesnt seem right to be knobbing great lumps off.

Looks like they're doing a good job, hopefully the climbers are members on here:thumbup1:

 

Agree, rather like pollarding, they've prolonged the life of this tree for years,rather than let it grow and grow and lose limbs in high winds. Cracking job:thumbup1:
