Bunyipben - my Takeuchi in the pic below is a 6 tonner, and the trailer is 14 foot (4.2m). It is loaded conventionally in the pic.

The Cat is an 8 tonner in the same trailer and has to be loaded offset as you describe to get the rear overhang down (in fact, simply to get the bucket/end of the dipper onto the trailer bed to secure it for transport). This offset arrangement would be more difficult with the trailer you are proposing as the ramps would restrict options.

I’d think you could move a 6 tonner on that trailer as your tracks should easily park on the flat, the blade may be on the slope but that’s not a problem. There would probably be a considerable implied load on the drawbar at Matt has suggested, and the boom would certainly hang out of the back. Can you not get the seller to get pics of a similar sized machine loaded up?

The first pic- does your Tak fit on that trailer with the 600 tracks on? Also how do you find that amount of hitch weight- mind is quite bouncy with the digger that way round but my tractor is quite a bit smaller which doesn’t help.

Yeah, plenty of room. It’s on 550mm tracks which are wider than the standard blade but I had extensions made (that bolt on) taking the overall width to 2.4m - slightly wider than the tracks. It all fits in the JPM no problem.

The 8 tonne Cat is very tight width-wise, on standard rubber, but does go in.

Weight-wise, the 6 tonner doesn’t actually put too much on the hitch on that trailer - you have to move it a fair way forward before it transfers any weight at all onto the tractor.

Sweet- could do with that on my job at the mo- flippin massive rocks trying to wrestle Into position with my 3 tonner for dry stone walling- can just about drag them along the ground! That one you have in the bucket probably weighs 2 ton. A cubic meter of granite is about 2.6t.

I’d say you are right about the weight, the machine moved it effortlessly , the side shift power in the back actor is a huge difference compared to wrestling with 2.7tonner.

It looks the same length as my red multi purpose dump trailer I use for moving my 3 tonner around. The total bed length is 12ft and I could just fit a 5-6t in there with arm out the back, I can also fit it in with the arm out the front with the bucket resting on the headboard- I prefer it this way as the bulk of the digger is over the trailer wheels- not on the hitch of the tractor. I think a mog doesn’t take hitch weight as well as a tractor either...

It’s plated at 10,000kg gross and it weighs 2.5t so 7500kg payload. The Herbst website only says 6t though so not really sure which is right. Anyway it carries weight well and is quite heavily built, 6mm sides and floor. it’s 12ftx7ft and for me this size was perfect as could still get it over the old narrow Dartmoor bridges/lanes. If I’d have gone for bigger I’d have filled it and felt sorry for my poor 85hp tractor!

you might be able to make out my protech post driver tucked down alongside the digger- I can get it all on and still fit 200meters worth of stock fencing/posts etc around the digger-strainer posts I slide under the digger itself.

I reckon my 6 tonner would fit in there perfectly...

I fancy a trailer like that and something like your 6 tonner.  Perfect set up for me but don’t think I could charge enough to cover the cost above a 3ton.  Beats an old grain trailer that’s for sure.
