Thanks man... Would you believe it I'm here but my receipt isn't :rolleyes: if it's not too costly ill just buy it haha else it might wait till new year.. how bad is the original part just for short term use?

 

Mine never failed in about 6 or 7 weeks use but they changed it anyway . Still got the other one ....:001_smile:

I have run the t540 a few times since purchase and noticed the chain runs quite slack is this by design or have I missed something? I tighten it normaly and it sits fine to start with but slackens off quite quickly, I'm tightening the side bolt well and all seams ok, just wondered if it was an issue with tensioner or just my application of it.. It's new so maybe a little streatch to start? any help greatly appreciated

Sorry if its stupid of me to suggest but are you making sure the bar is lifted fully before tightening ?

Sure am.. I did wonder that myself so I checked it.. I'm wondering if it's too much oil affecting the tensioner (had this on the 560 when it was set wrong)... But I'm also finding an amount of oil left after an empty fuel tank which normally means it needs to be turned up.. I'll clean it all out again later, trouble is I have no timber left till I go back to work to sink it onto now to test it haha

Even with the oiler turned up to the max the fuel should run out before the chain oil . It is designed that way so you never have a situation where you can be cutting and not lubing the bar . So having some oil left is correct .

How can oil affect the the tension? the more lubrication the better I would have thought.

 

Remember the tensioner is only working when you loosen the nut and turn the screw, once you retighten the nut you could slacken the tensioner if you wanted, it should be doing nothing.

Of course I know this, guessing the time off has already dulled the brain haha.. I'm just scratching about for a solution.. one if which could easily be operator error I'm sure.. I'll take it appart and clean it all with the compressor later, have found a knarly piece of apple stem to sink it into afterward.
