We have one of the above and in the first year it did 100 ton of billits with the extra wide axe on you only need to get it to go in by 100mm on a 1200mm bill it and it's split. IMO the machine is plenty quick enough and I've used a fair amount of machines stick it on full rev splitting bill it's and it will keep two blokes busy all day. Auto return on all models so axe returns to preset hight. Leader system is good for putting the axe where you want it on tricky bits. There are better machines on the market ie posch but you will pay another 1800 quid and for what a bit quicker return stroke of a second.

When I upgrade I will be sticking with Thor and using. Joe Turner as they have been spot on in the past I had a slight oil leek on one of the engine seals they had it back and replaced engine with in 5 days it was back.

Wood chopper. Thanks fr that. Is it the petrol engined model your using ? Looking at th specs he pto version is 9 and 29 m/sec ram speed and the petrol engine on 7.5 and 26 m/ sec ram speed. That's not a whole lot of difference unless anyone knows better.

A guy I do some processing for has exactly the same machines as mine in Pto there is not a lot of diffrance at all now they have the suparo engine there a lot quiter. What is your reason for getting the pectoral over the pot mine was that I did not want to tie the tractor up running the splitter.

Same as that really. Wanted the flexibility to use the splitter on its own or even take it home to split some wood for the fire now and again. I was just worried that the petrol one would be a lot slower than the pto version. Looking at the figures it doesn't seem like much difference in the stroke speed down on single or double speed. What's the return speed like?
