Some years ago there was a tyre burning electricty generator that was going to be the answer to disposal. Is it still going I wonder, probably not.

The Goodyear gasification one near Birmingham failed. One of the problems was dealing with the solidified black goo when the process stopped unexpectedly. It's licence was very limited and possibly only used for Goodyear tyres.

Cement manufacturers are allowed to burn tyre derived fuels (tyres have a higher calorific value than coal pound for pound) but even they are limited to what % they may use.

You could search the net for people needing tyres for 'rammed earth' projects. Might have to go 50/50 on transport or you might be lucky and find someone who is willing to buy from you. The more of roughly the same size the better. Makes for uniformly layered walls.

I saw that program too!

Just been quoted (if i deliver them):

Car & Van £0.75

Truck £7.50

Agri Front £15

Agri Rear £25

Rates apparently are higher as they may have been used for silage covering.

Anyone building a tyre house:001_rolleyes:

See if there are any mx/enduro clubs near you. They regularly half bury large tyres and use them as extreme sections for the riders to cross.
