I use my topper on the ground every day pretty much, ideal in some tight situations, working next to fences etc.

I think what HSE don't like is one-handed logging, moving the pole along with one hand whilst cutting with the other. This is quick, but lets face it, is an accident waiting to happen.

I use my topper whilst riding round on the big ride-on at work, the small saw fits behind the seat, just whip it out when I get a face full of branch

Well considering it's only nipping branches off, I don't see what difference it makes where the handle is, if you're holding both handles it's safe, otherwise are the stihl 07, 08 and 009 only allowed up a tree? I've seen a fair few used for chopping logs on the floor.

And at risk of being branded a heretic, as I'm working at chest height or above, I only need a lid and gloves

I needed to order some bits for some saws so rang up and ordered as usual and said do i need to come and collect them and the guy said no we can post it today. They are not a main dealer so can do what they want with bits they have bought to resell from stihl. If its a saw then i think they do face to face. Sorted my spares issue now, so i can keep the saws running and parts coming:thumbup:
