I got to my lock up this morning to find the locks mashed and the doors ripped open. The thieving scum bags managed to drag out my locked tool chest and proceeded to drag it across a field before cutting of the back hinges and nicking the saws from inside.

They did not try to take my chipper or anything else other than a box of new chains.

They did kindly leave one saw, the oldest one in the box which I occasionally used for planking small timber. See picture.

This sort of thing is happening a lot around Hampshire at the mo. and I was not the only one at the same yard to be done this morning, the other guys got pretty much cleaned out, not a good day!!

We are lead to believe they are using a silver Subaru forester (surprise, surprise) unfortunately the police won't tell us what the reg. no. is !

Yep that is a crap day. Tomorrow can only be better!

Just out of interest and to try to make their life a little harder, how did they mash the locks? What did they use to open the doors? Any way you could have made their entry harder within reason?

Just trying to think of ways to protect my own stuff so hopefully they go and pick an easier target.

gear was all in new shipping container with enclosed high security locks, it appears they levered the door and used a vehicle to yank the doors till the lock broke.

It seems to me, if they want it bad enough they will do anything to get it!

I'm given to understand that if you store your equipment in a building the punishment is much greater then if stored in a shipping container or tool store. Not that that helps! More likely they beak into containers as the picking are usually better with little or no alarms. You could try hinge pins on your container doors and spring bolts or dead locks in the middle. I did and it has slowed them down in the past. But if they want they will have!

I have been visited. More than once and have build up many lines of defence. Make it difficult so they leave u alone & go else ware. Monitored alarms, bollards concrete blocks. Oh and one last thing do it now as they will be back in 2-3 months to take it all again. BE WARNED!!!
