your sole would have less contact with the tree making it slippier. and as steve said you don't branch walk on your arch. just give me a good solid boot with a grippy sole (my haix's have no soles anymore, it's like climbing in bowling shoes)

Those little spikes in the in step might be for "walking on branches" not branch walking? In the bush if you stand on a branch you can go for a nasty skate if its on a hillside.I've seen guys screw little metal teeth made from folded alloy to the in step of their boots. This could be a new take on that concept?

not exactly sure vduben, maybe 6 months a bit longer. that was the point where i thought they don't make them how they used to. i've been wearing them for so long now that the steel shank has bent out of them, i had to cut it off with an angle grinder.

One of my guys has been wearing them for a few days now and likes them. You have to undo the spikey attachment bit to wear spikes and replace with a metal plate (more time consuming fiddling). The spikes aid positioning more than branch walking, for example when feet are horizontal along the branch (in the arch) you obtain a realy solid hold. saying that it only works to its full protencial on arch width diameter branches.

I'm trying a pair soon!
