New Haix boots

I tried a pair last week, it was the first pair of uncomfortable haix I've tried. Back to the pfanner boots for me...

Whats the difference between the new and old styles, I heard the inside is exactly the same

Wore a pair today. decent boot, take no time to wear in and comfy. seem very hard wearing. YES after reading the blurb they are to aid traction on the ground not while in the tree.

A mate in southern ireland just got a pair to try, he reckons they're fantastitic when you put the blank in instead of the spikes

Have had a pair of these for around 3 weeks, great boots, i find them very comfy, but a few friends of mine do not agree, must just be personal taste/foot shape.

 

Switched the spikes for the blank plates after about 30 mins of use, there pretty pointless in my opinion, dont really increase grip for branch walking, more anoying than anything.

 

Another anoying point is the lace hooks/guides? There is one on each boot on the inside of the ankle, which appears lower than other Haix models, and most other boots ive seen. This has resulted in both being snapped off of my boots when using a spade.

 

Overall, great climbing boots, maybe not so good all rounders.

The spikes remind me of caulks. Great in the woods for hopping over logs etc. Those look useless for most applications, boots look ok though

The instep spikes on the new Haix extreme boot are just one feature and may not be to everyones liking, but take the spikes away and put the blanking plate, you know have a boot with much better protection on the toe cap. The same hard wearing boot as it always been, but with class 2 protection. If you've had and like the haix protector, trekker and tibet then these boots are worth a look.

Thats what i thought, that'll do damage more than good if you werent dismantling it. If a were dismantling it you'd just be wearing your iron anyway.

 

Not sure on them, like the ribbs on the toe cap though.
