Hi everyone,

New here so apologise if something like this has been asked before.

My other half is a tree surgeon (and technophobe, hence me being here), and has just managed to snap the end of the tool that helps remove the spark plug from an MS201T. It is broken right on the bend of the tool and about 2.5 cm of the plastic is inside the piston pot still. We can see the plastic but can't grab it with anything.

Does anyone have any advice on getting the piece out as I'm getting pee'd off with the swearing coming from the garage now.

Thanks in advance.

Claire.

ok.

so is it the threaded one?

if not remove pull start assembly and wind engine so piston moves down. should then be able with some rattling get it to drop out plug hole.

failing this its a cylinder removal job.

if in any doubt get a tech to check it out.

Thanks both.

No, it's not threaded. Just a shaped piece of plastic that pushes in and slots into the metal 'fins' on the housing.

We'll have a fiddle and see what we can do,

Cheers, Claire.

Why not just turn it from the clutch side??

Less work than removing the pull start side.

Do you mean to remove the plastic from the mechanism? If so, it has already been jiggled out of there but it won't fall in the right position to get it out of the spark plug hole.

It's getting frustrating now. And I'm not the most patient :001_rolleyes:

If you turn the saw upside down and look up through the hole, using a torch, you can use something thin (like a knitting needle) to push one end of the object, thus allowing it to fall through the hole.

give it to a tech.

if the other is a technophobe i sure the tech will give him some sound advice and teach him a few things. a drink on offer is always welcome.

I would be patient with it, start "chucking teddy" and it gets expensive very quickly.

shake it with plug out, upside down it will come out.

Best to give it to a kid and say I bet you can't get that little bit of plastic out of there, if you can I will give you a tenner. (remove chain and bumper spike).

Guarantee my kids would be lining up for the challange.:001_smile:
