No.. that's on a rota of servicing and maintainance so they don't break in the first place.

 

Maintain and prevent

 

My landrover may look a bit shabby, but it's probably the best maintained in west yorkshire mechanically, my maintainance day a couple of weeks ago was modifying the tipper hinge bearings and pin, because they were sub-standard. It took a full day

 

Some things aren't a two minute job.

Turbull, I maintain my own gear because there is no-one that can or will maintain it to the standards I do. I have had my landrover 5 years, in that time I have replaced everything but the chassis and cab, oh and the rear axle.

 

Its had new engine, infact two because the first didn't measure up, gearbox, transfer box, front axle, discs, calipers, brake pipes, master cylinder, radiator shocks all round, winch, speedo, temp guage, props. If I had empolyed someone to do all that work I'd have had to work for nowt for a year to pay labour costs.

 

Everything you do for yourself is a job better done and one less overhead

if you charge a good rate like you say you can afford a mecahnic for a few hrs a week . i have a basic tool kit and do basic maintainence . it would cost a fortune in tools for anything more than basic routine miantainence and repairs .
