So they finally arrived and have become a welcome addition to the collection. I finally arranged a man and van to collect them, wrap them and organize a carrier service. Many thanks to;

Moderators, if I shouldn't be adding this link, please remove and apologies. This firm was really helpful and reasonable too.

You did well to get that set for £5! I've had my eye on those books for a while

Don't I know it. I've had my eye on getting a set for over twenty-five years. You find an odd volume cheap, but then need to find the rest to suit. I bid again in the last few seconds with a much higher bid, so I didn't get sniped, but no-one else was interested.:confused1:

I see him from time to time in passing. Its been a while since having a chat though. How do you know him? Did you know I worked with him when I first started? Just wondering if we have ever met.

I went for a job with Able when I moved up here at the end of the eighties, but took an offer in Halifax instead. Our paths crossed now and again, it's not that big an industry, then I worked for Halifax Council for a few years with a climber who knew him well. I think Paul, who I worked with, may have worked at Able too.

I can't really remember now, but did Godson form Badger Tree Services, or something like that. Like I said, it was a long time ago. Shom was about around the same time, if you know him.

Christ, I'm feeling ancient with these memories. Would you remember Philip at Ryburn Timber? If you don't, talk to some older arb's, they will.

Yes I think you must be an oldie:thumbup:

I started in mid nineties with Godson. I think he had already started Badger, then stopped for a while and worked at Able where I met him. After about 1 year he left and soon after did Badger again up until now I think. I may have worked with Paul. Did he used to work mainly at the other fuel yard at Halifax? And he lived on a boat I think.

And no idea about Ryburn Timber or Shom.
