Does anyone know of any mapping/GIS software suitable for use in creating woodland maps for management plans, EWGS applications, Felling Licence applications that is reasonably priced?

Even better value! I used it for years before having to go over to the dark side and use edit arcgis. Loads more cash for not a lot more.

Thanks, I have had a play with the mapmaker free version and think I will invest the £270 for the pro as it looks exactly what I was after.

If you need any help then there is forum ar Latitude Cartography or I know my way round some bits

Could you not just screen shot / print off a Google maps satellite view...? Not sure if that would be legal for commercial purposes, but I'd have thought it would be enough for boundary marking etc. Maybe not for individual tree level stuff!

For felling licences etc, you can request free maps from the Forestry Commision.
