Mrs egg wants me to extend the veg patch, I want to kill off some grass and put down woodchip for footpaths the same has the original veg patch. The one thing that has crossed my mind is the new part of the veg patch will be quite close to some apple trees. Will weed killer harm the apple trees? If so how far do I need to keep away from them.

on a small area like you're referring to if you're worried about the chemical hurting the trees why not lay down some plastic sheeting/old tarp of even flat pack cardboard boxes. wont take long to kill off the grass if you block the light out. :001_smile:

Eggs, just put cardboard down as suggested, it'll also attract worms, which will improve the soil, so better veg and better apples
