It may have been a possibility to climb and rig it but shock loading a tree in this condition was not an option for me, the photo's certainly do not show the extent of root damage.

 

We did it with a two man team, and only have to fell the stem in the morning

Crane would have been lovely if your keeping or need to load the timber. Did the man from the cherry picker company like sawdust? Haha, God love him!

Fair point but a crane would have complicated the job in its situation, the council have been repairing a road land slide for the last 7 months and the road is open now.

 

A crane would have worked very well but we just didn't have the room for snedding up on the ground, lots of cyclists and pedestrians too

Good job Chris, you did it how you thought was best and safest and that's all that matters mate. I find it funny and have a chuckle when people say "you should of done it like this" or " you should of done that" at the end of the day the jobs done and all is well. Good pics too.

I forgot to say. The other half has claimed the stamp on the envelope. She loves old jags so she is keep that. She was ready and waiting with the scissors before I had even opened it.
