Our guy that runs about doing the estimating must have a 99% success rate on his applications. I think its more to do with being realistic in the first place, he always contacts the tree officer before putting in the application and normally meets them on site. Clients wanting massive crown reductions just have to be patient and accept they will only be allowed a tickle at best but do it in two hits, no one is running about with a tape measure so the boundary of a crown reduction is down to the climber on the day, 10% could easily end up 15/20% providing he is sensible and doesnt butcher the tree.

Update on mine, after pointing out to person who is 'incharge' of handling the applications and pointing out the for mentiond points she thought it best to pass me direct to the tree office who turns out to be a normal human being with common sense still intact. So all sorted, meet and greet arranged for a chinwag and direct contact details for any future application in this area to bypass the paper pushes.
