Homemade log splitter

Beecham 4000-Four

Started making a splitter to use behind the tractor, id have liked longer stroke but only had a ram with 14 inch stroke so used what was available and made two mounting positions so i could split longer logs if needs be. I didnt want to be working on the floor so made it with a table.

Any suggestions for improvement will be appreciated before i get my paint brush out again lol

and can anyone recommend where to get a spool valve with kick out for the return stroke?

Try flowfit (on ebay) for your hydraulics.

Liking the bevelled corners on the table, for next time the blade can be made from digger bucket edge material, its "ground engaging" so high in boron and more durable than most materials.

The table is big but when you start processing arb waste you cant have a table too big.

You might have left a little more toe room under the front of table but its not that much of a problem

Nice job.

The tractor is a county 4000 four, it has a one piece grille from a 4600 but i have managed to source an original county badge and need to find a two piece grill to get it back to original.

i have put some photos of it in "Show your tractors" before but i dont have many pics of it working, never get time to use a camera then.

I did think of having it galved when finished, its around 70p a kilo after dipping,

so may be more worth while than re painting every few years, and would look better!
