Tajfun Processor niggles

Hi everyone

 

I have had my Tajfun 380 processor for nearly 2 years and there a few irritating niggles that keep cropping up and I was wondering if other owners experience similar problems or even these problems with different brand processors.

 

I seem to get my chains to last but the processor seems to wear a bar out for literally every chain. Bar I use: Oregon 17 Inch Pro Lite. Anyone have any ideas, I try to ensure I am not pressuring bar when cutting and ensure chain is not too tight when fitted. Probably 100T per bar. Or is this just expected?

 

My 8 way cutting blade keeps on getting stuck, almost on a daily basis. sawdust goes down it and compresses. I do try and wiggle it up and down but it does seem to get stuck very quickly/ easily. Its highly annoying as it means having to take bolts of bottom of processor every time.

 

The tray that allows the brash, sawdust to fall down keeps on getting bent. We have just welded a strengthening beam along bottom so hopefully this one is sorted but would be curious if other folk are having same problem.

 

Be interested to hear other people's thoughts?

I think our hakki would get through a chain every 80 tonnes and a bar 2-300 tonnes but depends on quality of both. Cant answer the rest.

pro lite bars are not the best, they are not even light. Try power match or a stihl rolomatic bar. I have never used either on a processor, but I know they are superior quality.

Our Palax does the same, think normally due to chain blunting and then putting extra pressure on bar. We have 4 way splitter,,,,DO NOT grease it. It will keep falling down.

Don't know the how the lubricating works on the Tajfan but our Farmi uses hydraulic oil for the chain lubrication. I have not had the machine long but had already wondered is the bar would ware quickly.

If you start getting through bars may be worth asking if you can use proper chain oil as it is less likely to fling off. We found the best wearing and cheapest bars were windsor. I am a die hard bench grinder for sharpening chains ours were £2.75 ea from carlton why faf about with a file. abuse it, blue it, kill it who cares as long as you get 6 or 7 sharpens main thing is its sharp and even so it does not jam in the cut.

Thanks for the replies, I use proper chain oil from Miller, but thanks for the tip on the other brands, maybe worth checking.

We've got the Tajfun400 joy and the bar (pro lite) seems to wear fast on that, unfortunately the joystick moves the bar at a set speed so we can't do much about the pressure. We thought that the auto off on the chain would make the bars last longer but it doesn't seem to help.

Chains last about 20 tons when new then 10 tons after each sharpening and I would say the bar last 80-100 tons.

The biggest problem is when the splitter pushes a bit of wood up and under all the guards which I can see as causing major damage one day. I've already had to chainsaw logs out a few times. It's still one of the best processors but it does have it's problems.

Edit: We use proper chainsaw oil already but different brands of bars might be worth a look.

swap from a pro-lite as they cant deal with high chain speeds, swapped my bars on my saws to power match bars as I was getting through a pro-lite every 4days felling

No choice with the Farmi for the chain oil as the feed comes straight from the main hydraulic oil tank. No separate tank for chain oil.
